We had to leave Brasil because....
We left Brasil on December 28, 2002 and arrived in
Florida the next day. Laurel and the girls arrived in Miami and Jason and Nicholas
arrived in Orlando! We were just praising God for getting us to the States before
February since all the flights we originally tried were booked. Laurel took an
Amtrak from Miami to DeLand, and Jason was able to pick her up along with Grandma Mulder
and Auntie.
Thank you so much for praying for us during this
hectic time. Our team mates in Brasil were such a blessing during our last days
there and helped out in many ways. "We are
definately encouraged about our time with them and look forward to being able to serve
them in Moçambique." Please continue to pray for the
families still in Brasil as they press forward with their Portuguese, and plan for the
move to Moçambique.
We had to leave Brasil because... our visas (which we were able to renew once) could not be renewed again.
Please pray for those that are enroute to Brasil that they will be able to get a
more permanent visa that will last for at least a year. The Penner's and the Tiarks are the
next families to head to Brasil.
Nicholas made the following comment while in
the WinnDixie supermarket at the checkout counter: "Daddy, that lady speaks English!
Does everybody here speak English?" It's the little differences that
often hit us as we enter or return from a culture different then our own.
We are going to be in the U.S. for around 8 months possibly more. Initially, we are
in Florida staying at Laurel's parent's house. We praise God for working this out
for us. We will be continuing to study Portuguese while here. Jason will be
trained on the NTM accounting program. Laurel is going to take a few more classes
toward her B.A. degree in Education.
We are also going to be speaking about Moçambique
with many accross the country. Pray that God will raise more prayer and financial
partners for us. Pray that God will even now be opening doors and preparing hearts.

For those of
you who have children and don't know it, we have a nursery downstairs. |
While in Brazil we home schooled Kali
and Krista for a couple months then sent Krista to an international school. Krista
had to commute to a school 2 hours away from where we were. Socially we felt it was
the best thing to do for her since she was having problems finding friends because of the
language barrier.
We praise God for:
| Traveling safety |
| Wonderful and encouraging friends and co-workers |
| Housing in Florida |
Please pray for:
| A continued increase in finances |
| The families still in Brasil as they press forward with
their Portuguese, and plan for the move to Moçambique. |
| Ability to continue to learn Portuguese even though we are
in the U.S. |
| Wisdom for the many decisions still to be made |
| Health for our family during this time |
